Washington Dutch Lions FC LLC is the ninth (of nine) Dutch Lions FC club in the USA.
About Washington Dutch Lions FC
The club was founded in February 2021 by Dutch Lions Capital Group USA LLC and Martin de Groot. The club has a Women's team competing in the Women's Professional Soccer League (WPSL), the second tier in US Soccer for Women.
The club is led by CEO Martin de Groot. He is from the Netherlands and moved to the US over 20 years ago. With his company “NL to US” he works with Dutch manufacturers that want to enter the US market. Martin is also chairman of the Netherlands American Business Council, a non-profit promoting business ties between the two countries.
In their inaugural 2021 season, the club won the WPSL Conference Championship after a thrilling 0-1 win in the Championship game on the road vs SJEB FC. The team ended in first place with a 6-1-1 record (19 points, 27-6 in goals).
